61 million consumers purchased from Shopify-powered brands during the BFCM 2023
Shopify merchants recorded $9.3 billion in sales over the holiday weekend, which was a 24% increase from last year. Shopping peaked when collective sales reached $4.2 million per minute at 12:01 p.m. EST on Black Friday.

Shopify made $6.5 billion in merchant solution revenue in 2024. This total comes from the first quarter's $1.4 billion, the second quarter's $1.5 billion, the third quarter’s $1.5 billion, and the fourth quarter's $2.1 billion in merchant solution revenue.
Shopify generates merchant solutions revenue from fees that it charges merchants on their customer orders which are processed through Shopify Payments. This accounts for the majority of the company’s income.
