Watch for Gift Card Deals: Keep an eye on promotions where you can receive gift cards for buying select items. Target frequently offers these deals on categories like household goods, beauty products, and baby essentials.
Combine Discounts When Shopping: Maximize your savings by using multiple discounts in a single transaction. Combine Target Circle offers, manufacturer coupons, and in-app deals for the best results.
Shop Clearance During Markdowns: Familiarize yourself with markdown schedules at Target. Clearance items often drop further in price on specific days, like electronics early in the week or home goods later.
Take Advantage of Seasonal Sales: Look out for seasonal or holiday sales. These events usually come with big discounts and are a great time to stock up on everyday essentials.
Use Target’s Loyalty Programs: Sign up for programs like Target Circle, which provides access to exclusive offers, early deals, and bonus rewards. Members can stack these with other discounts.
Pay with a Target Circle Card: If you’re eligible, consider using your Target Circle Card (formerly REDcard). It gives you a flat 5% discount on purchases, which can be combined with other discounts for more savings.
Target Circle 360 members get monthly freebies: each month you can choose from free products or a set dollar amount toward your next purchase, redeemable in-store or online. The selection rotates and is visible in the Target app under your Circle 360 account benefits.
Target has a loyalty program called Target Circle, which is free to join and offers numerous benefits. Members earn 1% back in rewards on eligible purchases, which can be redeemed on future shopping trips. Additionally, Target Circle members get access to exclusive deals, personalized offers, and a special birthday reward. The program also allows members to vote and help direct Target's community-giving initiatives. Joining is easy and can be done online, through the Target app, or in-store at checkout. This program is a great way to save more and enjoy a personalized shopping experience at Target.
Target runs three overlapping savings programs, and the differences between them matter depending on how often you shop and how you pay. Here is how each one works.
Target Circle is free to join and requires no card or commitment. Members get automatic deals applied at checkout, access to a birthday reward, and personalized bonus offers through the Target app. Eligible purchases earn 1% back in Target Circle rewards, redeemable on future purchases. Note: the 1% earning does not apply when you pay with a Target Circle Card, because Circle Card purchases earn 5% off instead. Circle members also get to vote to direct a portion of Target's community giving to local nonprofits.
Circle 360 is the paid tier, built on top of free Circle. The annual cost is $99, or $49 for Target Circle Card holders. Key additions over the free tier include unlimited same-day delivery on orders over $35 through Shipt, free two-day shipping with no order minimum, an extended return window (30 extra days on top of the standard 90), and monthly freebies redeemable in-store or online. As of May 2025, Circle 360 also covers same-day delivery from over 100 Shipt network retailers, including CVS, Petco, Lowe's, and Sephora, with no price markups. That multi-retailer coverage makes it the only membership program to offer no-markup same-day delivery across that broad a network.
The Circle Card is Target's store card, available as a debit card, a store credit card, or a Mastercard. All versions give you 5% off eligible Target purchases automatically at checkout, free two-day shipping, and 30 extra days on returns. The Circle Card is not rewards-earning in the traditional sense: instead of earning points to redeem later, the 5% comes off your purchase instantly. Circle Card holders also get Circle 360 for $49 instead of $99.
If you shop at Target a few times a month but do not need fast delivery, the free Circle program costs nothing and adds real value at checkout. If you make two or more same-day delivery orders per month, Circle 360 pays for itself quickly at $99 per year (two Shipt orders at $9.99 each per month equals $239.76 per year without membership). If you spend $2,000 or more at Target annually, the Circle Card's 5% discount saves more than the 1% Circle rewards alone. Many regular shoppers hold both a Circle Card and Circle 360, since Circle Card holders pay only $49 for the membership.
The Target Circle Card comes in four versions: a store credit card, a Mastercard, a debit card, and a reloadable prepaid card. The debit and credit versions are the most common, and the core benefits are identical across both: 5% off eligible Target purchases, free two-day shipping, and 30 extra days for returns. The meaningful differences are in how the card is funded and where it can be used.
The debit version links directly to your existing checking account and draws funds at the time of purchase. No credit check is required to get one, which makes it accessible to shoppers who want the 5% discount without a credit application. It does not build your credit score since it is not a line of credit. It only works at Target and Target.com. Refunds from returns go back to the linked bank account and typically take 3 to 7 business days to appear, which is slower than most standard debit refund timelines.
The credit version is a store-only credit card (or a Mastercard, which works anywhere Mastercard is accepted). A credit check is required. The credit card offers the same 5% off and extended shipping and return perks as the debit card. The key advantage is flexibility: you can float purchases across a billing cycle, and the card carries standard credit card fraud protections. The trade-off is that carrying a balance negates the 5% savings quickly, given the card's interest rate. The Circle Card credit is best suited to shoppers who pay their balance in full each month.
The 5% discount does not apply to prescriptions, over-the-counter items from the pharmacy counter, Target gift cards, or taxes and shipping. Both card versions give Circle 360 members the $49 discounted membership rate instead of $99. Neither card charges an annual fee.
If you want the 5% discount and have no interest in building credit or carrying a balance, the debit card is the lower-friction option. If you want credit card purchase protections and pay your balance monthly, the credit card delivers the same Target-specific savings with more general financial flexibility.
Both Drive Up and Order Pickup let you skip shipping and get your order the same day, but they work differently and suit different situations.
Drive Up is curbside pickup. You place your order in the Target app, select Drive Up, and pull into a marked spot in the Target parking lot when your order is ready. You check in through the app when you arrive, and a Target team member brings the order to your car. Most drive-up orders are ready within a few hours of placing the order. Drive Up is free with no order minimum. As of recent updates, Drive Up also supports returns: you can initiate a return in the app and hand off the item to a team member without leaving your car.
Order Pickup means you collect your order inside the store at a designated pickup counter. You still place the order ahead of time through the app or Target.com, and Target sends a notification when it is ready. This option works well if you are already heading inside to browse or pick up a pharmacy order separately. Like Drive Up, Order Pickup carries no fee and no minimum order size.
Drive Up is faster if you want zero time inside the store. Order Pickup works better if you have multiple errands inside the same Target visit or if the parking lot is congested. Both options are available at nearly all Target locations across the US and carry the same discount eligibility for Circle Card and Circle 360 members.
Target offers a variety of shipping options to meet customer needs. Standard shipping is typically the default option, with delivery expected within 3 to 5 business days. Orders over $35 or those placed using a Target Circle Card qualify for free standard shipping. For faster delivery, Target provides 2-day and next-day shipping options on eligible items, with free 2-day shipping available for orders over $35 or with a Target Circle Card. Additionally, Target offers same-day delivery through services like Shipt, and customers can also opt for free in-store pickup or Drive Up service for added convenience.
Target offers a 90-day return window for most items. If you used a Target Circle Card or are a Target Circle 360 member, you get an additional 30 days to return items. Target-owned brands and registry items can be returned within a year. Returns can be made in-store, via mail, or through the Drive Up service. Certain items, such as electronics, may have a shorter return window, and some items, like gift cards and digital downloads, are non-returnable. Target also provides a hassle-free return process through its app, allowing customers to initiate returns and track their status easily.

Free standard shipping kicks in automatically when your order reaches $35 or more. If you use a Target Circle Card for payment, shipping is free on most items with no minimum order required. Target Circle 360 members also get free shipping on eligible orders regardless of cart size. For orders that don't qualify under any of these paths, standard shipping costs $5.99, per Target's help center.
Target Circle is Target's free loyalty program, giving members automatic deals applied at checkout, personalized bonus offers, and exclusive partner perks. Eligible purchases earn 1% back in Target Circle rewards, redeemable on future trips, though this earning does not apply when paying with a Target Circle Card (those purchases earn 5% off instead). A paid upgrade called Target Circle 360 is available for $99 per year ($49 for Target Circle Card holders) and adds unlimited same-day delivery on orders over $35, free 2-day shipping, and an extended 30-day return window on top of standard Circle benefits.
You can apply one manufacturer coupon, one Target category offer, and one Target item-level offer per item.
The Target app and the Deals tab on Target.com are the primary places to browse current offers. Target Circle members see relevant discounts applied automatically at checkout, but you can also browse active Circle offers in the app before you shop. The weekly ad updates each Sunday and is available in the app and on Target.com, organized by category. The app also lets you scan barcodes in-store to check for Circle deals on specific items. You can also check out GrabOn for the latest Target deals and offers.
Target offers a 10% discount on up to two qualifying storewide purchases for active-duty military, National Guard, reservists, veterans, and their eligible family members. The discount runs during two fixed windows each year: one around the Fourth of July and one around Veterans Day. To access it, you need a Target Circle account with verified military status, which you can confirm through the Settings section of your account on Target.com. The discount applies both in-store and online and can be stacked with the 5% Target Circle Card benefit.
Target no longer matches prices from outside retailers like Amazon and Walmart. The current price match guarantee covers only price differences within Target’s own ecosystem. If the same item is priced lower on Target.com, in another Target store, or through an auto-applied Target Circle deal, you can request the difference within 14 days of purchase.
Target offers two contact-free pickup options: Drive Up and Order Pickup. Drive Up is curbside: place your order in the Target app, drive to a marked spot, check in through the app, and a team member brings your order to the car. Order Pickup means collecting your order at a counter inside the store. Both are free with no order minimum and are available at nearly all Target US locations. Drive Up also supports returns as of recent updates, so you can hand off a return item from your car without going inside.
